Chemical Peel

Chemical Peels use a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers. This procedure is generally mostly used on the face to improve the appearance of skin from damaging processes such as sun exposure, acne scarring, and age.

A chemical peel can help improve the following processes:

  • Acne or acne scars
  • Age and liver spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Irregular skin pigmentation
  • Rough skin and scaly patches
  • Scars
  • Sun-damaged skin

A chemical peel CANNOT improve the following processes:

  • Treat deep facial lines
  • Tighten loose or sagging skin
  • Remove broken capillaries
  • Change pore size
  • Remove deep scars

At D.C. surgical arts, chemical peels are primarily done with trichloroacetic acid (TCA). The various depths of penetration through the skin is proportioned to the concentration of TCA used. Dr. Tien provides IV sedation for this procedure to provide maximum comfort and safety for his cosmetic patients.
